Martin Lindner asked me to come to the Microlearning 2005 conference in Innsbruck, Austria on June 23rd and 24th. The topic seems to manifest further in academic and professional discourse, and so I'd really like to be there. I'm not entirely sure how to pay for the travel expenses because I am still a student, but I've proposed a presentation about self-directed learning with personal publishing and microcontent which promptly made it past the review process! So I'll really have to do some work within the next few days to get things straight. I like the challenge, though, because I have done quite some meta- and edu-blogging in my german weblog and the BildungsBlog, and recently began to incorporate this into my field of study in Pedagogy/Adult Education. I think it finally is time to do much more academic and theoretical work, and to see how we can implement this in learning scenarios. Feel free to have a look at my proposal and leave a comment!

I'm already looking forward to attending the conference, because a lot of very interesting people I haven't met in person are going to come, among them Michael Kerres and Sébastien Paquet. In the list of presentations, I just found out that Sebastian Fiedler and Chris Langreiter will also be there! This is really cool because I've met them at last year's BlogWalk 2.0 session in Nuremberg (see my blog entry from June 2004), and time was much too short. Speaking of BlogWalk, a couple of days ago I talked to Martin Röll through instant messaging, and he mentioned that there might be another BlogWalk session before or after the Microlearning conference. I've just read this posting from Ton Zijlstra (who also did BlogWalk 2), and it seems like it's going to be on June 25th in Innsbruck! I'd be glad to join, if I can.
